When we talk about a mantle, we’re usually talking about spiritual authority or a specific assignment. In the Old Testament, it was a literal cloak, but in our lives, it’s the “weight” of what God has called us to do.
The thing is, weight does one of two things: it either builds muscle or it crushes what’s underneath.

If you’re carrying a true calling, it’s going to feel heavy. That heaviness is not there to break your spirit; it’s there to squeeze out the pride, the need for validation, and the “look at me” energy we all struggle with.
The Ego wants the mantle to be a crown. It wants the influence without the sacrifice. The Spirit knows the mantle is a press. Like an olive being crushed to produce oil, your “flesh”; your own desires and temperaments has to be pressed so the “anointing” can actually flow.

If God gave us great influence without first dealing with our ego, that same influence would eventually destroy us. The “crushing” is actually a form of protection. It ensures that when people look at your life, they don’t see a monument to your talent, they see the evidence of His power.
It’s the process of becoming “less” so that He can become “more.” It’s uncomfortable, and honestly, it hurts sometimes, but that’s how the best wine is made.
Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'”
So my question to you on today is: What part of your own journey currently feels more like a “pressing” than a “crowning”?
Kingdom blessings!
